MHA Service Area/Partners

Mountain Health Alliance serves a three-state, four-county region that includes Allegany and Garrett Counties in Maryland; Bedford County, Pennsylvania; and Mineral County, West Virginia. Our partner agencies include two county health departments, one regional hospital, four federally qualified health centers and three community non-profit organizations.

The Mountain Health Alliances provides education to both the public and providers in our community. We offer services such as Community Health Worker training using the Maryland AHEC statewide curriculum, Oral Health Education, Chronic Disease Workshops, and Peer Recovery Supports. Program Services

Mountain Health Alliance Community Health Workers are able to work one-on-one with individuals in our community to link them with available resources and increase their access to health care.

Diabetes Prevention Program– We offer a free, lifestyle-management program designed to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. DPP is a supportive environment that brings people together to overcome obstacles and celebrate successes. We currently offer both virtual and in-person classes.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshops– We offer free, 6 week, self-management classes that focus on diabetes and chronic pain.

Community Health Worker Training– Our Community Health Worker Training Program is accredited by the Maryland Department of Health. The program is designed for anyone looking to work in the field of community and public health, as well as those already established and looking to enhance skills. The Maryland AHEC curriculum provides a 140 hour training that corresponds to the nine Maryland Department of Health Core Competencies. We currently offer both virtual and in-person classes.
