Social Work Caucus

Allegany/Garrett/Washington County

The mission of the Social Work Caucus shall be to:

  • Serve as an advocacy and advisory group for outreach of regional academic social work programs available in the organization's service area.
  • Serve as a catalyst for development of continuing education programs for area social workers and social service personnel.
  • Promote dissemination of information relating to professional growth and development, professional ethical concerns, and/or pertinent social welfare and health-related issues.
  • Promote the maintenance of a support network among social workers.
  • Strengthen interdisciplinary understanding and cooperation between social workers and other health and welfare professionals.
  • Strengthen linkages between area social workers and social work educational and professional social work organizations and institutions.
  • Promote client advocacy by supporting changes in social policy, cooperative planning, service coordination, and resource development.
  • Strengthen the role of social work by advocating for the profession.

Active members of the Social Work Caucus shall:

  • Hold a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in social work or hold licensure as a social work associate.


Allegany/Garrett County Meetings occur on the 2nd Wednesday of February, April, June, August, October, and December from 12pm - 2pm. A 1.5 CE credit is included with each meeting.

Washington County Meetings occur on the 4th Monday of January, May, July, September, and Novemeber from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. A 1.5 CE credit is included with each meeting.
