Nurse Practitioner Caucus

The mission of the Nurse Practitioner Caucus shall be to:

  • Provide a forum for professional communication, interchange, and networking for advanced practice nurses.
  • Serve as a conduit for information from the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland.
  • Encourage and support the attainment of advanced degrees in Nursing and provide advanced continuing education opportunities.
  • Promote the professional status of nurse practitioners and freedom within their scope of practice.
  • Act as liaison between the Board of Directors and other Nursing-related educational and professional organizations to advocate for improved health care services in the Western Maryland region.
  • Improve community awareness of and sensitivity to nurse practitioner issues and services.
  • Provide support and service to the community on health-related needs.

Active members of the Nursing Practitioner Caucus shall fulfill the following qualifications:

  • Be certified registered nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives, or clinical nurse specialists. Nurse practitioner students shall be free to attend the educational and business meetings. Student members may have a voice but no vote. Healthcare providers such as physician assistants or MDs may attend the educational meetings.

Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. No meetings are held during the summer months of June, July, or August.
